A driver has been caught on camera after mistaking a pedestrian bridge for a road in Glasgow.
The red car was seen driving over the Anderston Footbridge, which crosses over the busy M8 motorway linking the city centre with the West End.
An eyewitness spotted the car heading down the bridge after it entered from the eastern side at Waterloo Street.
The car then proceeded down the main span of the bridge before being stopped by the tight, curved descent down to Argyle Street on the western side of the bridge.
The eyewitness then said the car did a “15-point turn” before heading back down the bridge. It was on the bridge for around ten minutes.
Having spotted the situation unfold from an office window, the eyewitness said: “It gave us all a good laugh”.
Dubbed the ‘Bridge to Nowhere’, construction on the Anderston Footbridge began in the early 1970s and was halted in 1972 due to opposition.
For more than four decades, the bridge remained unfinished, with the western end hanging 40ft in the air, before it was finally completed in 2013.
