A car was set on fire at a prison in East Dunbartonshire on Wednesday night.

Police are investigating the incident, which happened around 10pm at HMP Low Moss in Bishopbriggs.

Officers believe the fire was deliberate and may be linked to the vandalism of another car.

There were no injuries and police are trying to establish the circumstances.

A force spokeswoman said: “We received a report of a car fire within the car park of HMP Low Moss in Bishopbriggs around 10pm on Wednesday, November 25.

“Officers attended alongside the fire service.

“The incident is being treated as wilful and another car was found to be vandalised, which is believed to be linked.

“Nobody was injured. Enquiries are ongoing.”
