A car has been recovered amid an investigation into a double shooting outside a pub on Hogmanay.

Marc Webley was shot outside the Anchor Inn on Granton Crescent in Edinburgh on December 31, along with a second man who has not been named.

Police were called to the pub shortly before midnight on New Year’s Eve, and believe that an armed driver pulled up to the premises in a red Hyundai Tucson.

Officers believe that the attacker got out of the vehicle and shot the two men, before making off in the direction of Leith.

On Wednesday, police confirmed they had recovered a car in Darvel Gait and said enquiries to establish if this was the car involved are “ongoing”.

The two men were rushed to hospital where Marc Webley later died. The second man is believed to be in a serious but stable condition.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 2.45pm on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, officers investigating a death in the Granton area of Edinburgh recovered a car in Darvel Gait, Edinburgh.

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish if this was the vehicle involved.”

In videos posted just hours before his death on social media, Marc Webley urged his enemies to “come and get it”.

He was previously convicted of taking part in a gangland shooting in 2005 and spent 11 years behind bars.

Webley was also cleared of two attempted murders in the capital back in 2022.
