Cannabis worth £150,000 seized from car in police raid

A 25-year-old has been arrested and charged after cannabis with a street value of £150,000 was recovered by police.

A man has been arrested after £150,000 worth of cannabis was seized in a police raid.

The haul was recovered after officers from Police Scotland’s Road Policing Unit stopped a Skoda Octavia on the A74(M) northbound near junction 19, Ecclefechan on Saturday.

Officers searched the car and found the cannabis within.

Police say it has an estimated street value of £150,000

The 25 year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with a number of offences including drugs offences, road traffic offences and attempting to pervert the course of justice. 

He is due before Dumfries Sheriff Court on Monday and a full report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

Inspector Andy Mather from the Road Policing Unit said:  “This recovery has stopped a significant amount of drugs from reaching the streets of Scotland. 

“We will continue our work to track down those involved in this type of behaviour and take action.”
