Cannabis haul worth £375,000 uncovered at Cairnryan ferry port after 'strong smell detected'

A cannabis haul worth £375,000 has been uncovered at a ferry port after officers detected a strong smell coming from a van.

Police were carrying out checks on vehicles set to board a ferry from Cairnryan to Northern Ireland on Friday, when a strong smell of cannabis was detected coming from a van.

Futher checks were carried out and herbal cannabis, worth an estimated £375,000, was seized from the vehicle.

Two men, aged 43 and 18, have been arrested and charged in connection and are due to appear at Dumfries Sheriff Court on Monday.

Officers said enquiries remain ongoing.
