A bus driver who died from his injuries following a crash with a van in Ayrshire has been named.
Gordon Stirling passed away in hospital almost a week after the incident involving the single-decker Stagecoach bus and the Ford Transit on the A77 near Galston on Monday, August 14.
The 23-year-old was rushed to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital with life threatening injuries.
Police later confirmed he died on Saturday as the investigation into the crash near the junction with the A719 continues.
The 42-year-old driver of the van remains in a serious, but stable, condition in the same hospital.
Officers say they are continuing their appeals for information on the collision.
Inspector Craig Beaver of the Ayrshire Road Policing Unit said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Mr Stirling at what is a very difficult time for them.
“Our investigation into the circumstances of the crash are continuing. I would ask anyone with information, including dash-cam footage, who has not already spoken to officers to please get in touch.
“If you can assist, please call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 3147 of Monday, August 14.”
