A man punched and fractured his victim’s eye socket amid a dispute over skipping a toilet queue.

Brandon Manners, 25, pounced on the man at Glasgow city centre’s The Social on February 4 2023.

Manners hit the man once on the head from behind after both men left the bathroom area of the bar.

The pair had earlier argued about jumping ahead in the line for the bathroom.

Manners pled guilty on Friday at Glasgow Sheriff Court to assaulting the man to his severe injury and impairment.

The court heard that the victim was at the bar with his son who waited outside for him.

Manners, of Twechar, East Dunbartonshire, and another man entered the toilet in the meantime.

Prosecutor Jeremy O’Neill said: “While in the toilet, [the victim] entered in a disagreement with the men over skipping the queue.

“[The victim] left the toilet and was followed by Manners.

“[He] made his way through the dancefloor when he was punched from behind to the head which caused him to fall to the ground.”

Manners was ushered away from the bar while the man was taken into the kitchen area for first aid.

The victim – who had pain on the side of his face and a bloody nose – did not recall what had happened at the time.

Manners handed himself into police two months after the incident.

Mr O’Neill said: “Doctors assessed [the victim] to have three fractures to the right eye socket.”

It was reported that his eye has moved position which will take some time to heal.

Kevin Corr, defending, told the court: “It was always my client’s position that although he cant recall what happened, as he was intoxicated, he was in the wrong.”

Sentence was deferred on the painter and decorator pending background reports until next month by Sheriff Shona Gilroy.

Manners had his bail continued meantime.
