Boy, eight, in serious condition in hospital after being struck by car

The child is in a serious but stable condition after being struck down on Garrioch Road, Glasgow, on Monday afternoon.

An eight-year-old is in a serious condition in hospital after being struck by a car in Glasgow.

Emergency services were called to Garrioch Road, near Stratford Street, after receiving reports that a pedestrian had been hit by a car at around 12.05pm on Monday.

An eight-year-old boy was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment.

His current condition has been described as serious, but stable.

Officers confirmed the driver of the car was uninjured.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Police received a report of a crash involving a car and an eight-year-old male pedestrian on Garrioch Road near Stratford Street, Glasgow.

“The boy was taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, Glasgow, where medical staff describe his condition as serious but stable.

“The driver of the car was not injured. The road is now open.”
