A 14-year-old boy is the third person to be charged in connection with the alleged murder of 16-year-old Kayden Moy.

Kayden, from East Kilbride, was found seriously injured on Irvine beach following a disturbance around 6.45pm on Saturday, May 17.

The teenager received medical care at the scene but died at Crosshouse Hospital a day later.

A 17-year-old male previously appeared at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Tuesday, May 20, charged with Kayden’s murder, as well as attempting to pervert the course of justice and carrying an offensive weapon in a public place.

He made no plea and was remanded in custody.

A second 17-year-old male was arrested and charged in connection with the death and appeared at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Friday, May 23.

He was also charged with murder, attempting to pervert the course of justice and carrying an offensive weapon in a public place.

On Wednesday, police confirmed a 14-year-old boy was charged in connection with the death.

He is due to appear at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Thursday.

Following Kayden’s death, his family paid tribute to the teenager, describing him as “loved by so many”.

Detectives have set up a website that gives members of the public access to a form to send information directly to the Major Investigation Team, which can be submitted anonymously.
