A schoolboy has been arrested after a man was found “seriously injured” in North Ayrshire.

Officers said a 41-year-old man found with serious injuries in the Newhouse Drive area of Kilbirnie around 12.30pm on Thursday.

He was taken to University Hospital Crosshouse for treatment.

A 14-year-old boy has been arrested in connection and enquiries are ongoing, Police Scotland said.

A spokesperson for the force said: “Around 12.30pm on Thursday, March 6, 2025, we received a report of a 41-year-old man found seriously injured in the Newhouse Drive area of Kilbirnie.

“Emergency services attended, and the man was taken to University Hospital Crosshouse for treatment.

“A 14-year-old male youth has been arrested in connection and enquiries are ongoing.”
