A 12-year-old boy has been rushed to hospital following an “explosion” at an industrial estate in Uddingston.

The youngster was tended to by emergency responders after a fire within the Tannochside Estate shortly after 9.10pm on Monday, June 5.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) and Police Scotland also attended the incident before the blaze was eventually extinguished over two hours later.

An investigation into the cause of the fire is now under way, a spokesperson for the force added.

“Around 9.10pm on Monday, June 5, police were called to an industrial unit in Bedlay View, Tannochside Industrial Estate, Uddingston following reports of an explosion,” they said.

“SFRS and police attended and the fire was quickly extinguished.

“A 12-year-old boy was taken to hospital following the fire and enquiries remain ongoing to ascertain the full circumstances of the incident.”
