A body has been recovered from the River Clyde following reports of a man “swimming”.

Police were called to the Glasgow Bridge on Jamaica Street around 5.40pm on Sunday after a man was reportedly seen swimming in the water.

Scottish Fire and Rescue and Coastguard also attended the scene, and a body was recovered around 10.50pm.

The death is not being treated as suspicious.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 5.40pm on Sunday, July 5, 2026, police received a report of a man swimming in the River Clyde at Glasgow Bridge, Jamaica Street, Glasgow.

“Police, Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and Coastguard attended, and the body of a man was recovered at around 10.50pm.

“There are no suspicious circumstances and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.”
