The body of a woman has been found close to a wooded area near Lanark.

Police confirmed they received a concern for a person call on Monday evening.

Units were deployed to the scene near the A73 Lanark Road at its junction with Sunnyside Road.

The area is close to the Clyde Valley Woodlands National Nature Reserve.

There, officers recovered the body of woman.

A spokesperson said: “Police received a report of concern for a person on the A73 Lanark Road, near Sunnyside Road, around 6.15pm on Monday September 7.

“Officers attended and the body of a women was recovered.

“There are no suspicious circumstances and a report was submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
