The body of a man has been found in a cemetery in Inverclyde, with police treating the death as “unexplained”.

Officers were called around 4.10pm on Friday to Greenock Cemetery on South Street.

The body of a man was discovered and officers say enquiries are ongoing into the incident.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 4.10pm on Friday, August 1, 2025, the body of a man was found in a cemetery in Greenock.

“The death is being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing.”
