The body of a man has been found inside a flat following a fire in Paisley.

Emergency services were called out to the Lang Street area of the town on Friday night to reports of a blaze.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service sent six appliances to the scene at around 5pm.

Police Scotland later confirmed that a body had been discovered inside.

A spokesperson for the force said: “Around 5pm on Friday we were called to a report of a fire at a flat on Lang Street, Paisley.

“Emergency services attended, and the body of a man was found within.

“Enquiries are continuing to formally identify him and establish the cause of the blaze.

“Road closures remain in place on Lang Street and Violet Street.”
