Police ScotlandA body has been found in a wooded area in Ayr during a search for a man last seen wearing pyjamas.
Robert Pirie was last seen in the Craigston Avenue area of Ayr, around 2.30am on Monday, May 27.
Police have now confirmed that the body of a man they believe to be the 55-year-old was discovered in a wooded area in the Holmston Area around 1.15pm on Monday.
Formal identification is yet to take place, however, Robert’s family has been informed.
The death is not being treated as suspicious.
A police spokesperson said: “Around 1.15pm on Monday, May 27, 2023, police were notified a man’s body had been found in a wooded area in the Holmston area of Ayr.
“A formal identification has still to take place; however, we believe it to be 55-year-old Robert Pirie missing from Craigstone Avenue in Ayr.
“Officers have been liaising with Mr Pirie’s family.
“A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal. The death is not being treated as suspicious.”
