The body of Patrick Alan Monroe has been found in the Tyndrum area, police have confirmed.

A body has been found in the search for a hillwalker who disappeared while climbing Munros.

Patrick Alan Monroe was last seen at the Pine Trees Leisure Park Campsite in Tyndrum, near Crianlarich on Thursday, April 6.

He was believed to have reached the summit of Ben Oss at around 1.15pm that day.

He then went on to the summit of Ben Lui, reaching it around 3pm, and then along the ridge to Ben A’Cleibh at around 4pm.

The alarm was raised when he failed to return.

At around 11am on April 13, the body of a man was discovered in the Tyndrum area.

Formal identification has yet to take place, but police said the family of missing Mr Monroe has been made aware.

There are no apparent suspicious circumstances and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.
