Body found in Lanarkshire woods in search for missing Aberdeen man

Formal identification is still to take place, but the family of Robert Miller have been informed.

A body has been found in North Lanarkshire in the search for a missing Aberdeen man.

The discovery was made in wooded area near Forest Road, Cumbernauld at around 10.15am on Friday July 17.

Formal identification has yet to take place, however police say the family of Robert Miller, 59, who was reported missing from the Seaton area of Aberdeen, have been informed. 

He was last seen in the Charing Cross area of Glasgow on the evening of July 5.

Officers said the death is not believed to be suspicious and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.

A police statement read: “Around 10.15am on Friday, 17 July, 2026, police discovered a man’s body in a wooded area near Forest Road, Cumbernauld. 

Formal identification has still to take place, however the family of Robert Miller, 59, who was reported missing from the Seaton area of Aberdeen have been informed. 

The death is not believed to be suspicious and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.”
