A body has been found in the search for a man who disappeared on a hillwalk.
George Smith travelled from Stranraer to Tarbet on Monday to go hillwalking in the Cruach Tairbeit and Glen Loin areas.
He was reported missing on Wednesday after failing to return.
The 64-year-old’s car was found parked in Tarbet off the A83. Mountain rescue teams joined the extensive searches across Cruach Tairbeit and Glen Loin.
Police inspector Bart Simonis said it was “completely out of character” for Mr Smith not to keep in regular contact with his family.
On Friday at around 10.45am, a body was found in the Arrochar area.
He has not yet been formally identified, but Mr Smith’s family has been informed.
Police Scotland said there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and a report would be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
