Body found in River Clyde as police work to establish identity

Detectives are working to identify a body which was pulled from the River Clyde.

Emergency services were called to the Erskine Bridge at around 2.40am on Tuesday after reports of concern for a person.

A body was recovered from the water, and the death is currently being treated as unexplained.

Detectives say there are no suspicious circumstances.

An investigation is ongoing to establish the person’s identity. A report is due to be submitted to the procurator fiscal.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 2.40am on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, officers were called to the River Clyde at Erskine Bridge following a report of concern for a person.

“Emergency services attended and a body was recovered from the water.

“The death is being treated as unexplained but is not believed to be suspicious.

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the person’s identity.

“A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
