The body of a man was discovered after a house fire in West Dunbartonshire early on Saturday.

Fire crews were called to reports of a blaze at a property in Tontine Park, Renton, at around 6.59am on March 25.

Emergency services attended and discovered the corpse inside the flat.

Police Scotland confirmed that the death is being treated as suspicious and an investigation is under way.

A spokesperson for the force said: “Around 7.25am on Saturday, March 25, police were made aware of a fire at a flat in Tontine Park in Renton. Emergency services attended and the body of a man was found within.

“Officers are treating the death as suspicious and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.

“Additional officers will be in the area to provide reassurance to the local community. Anyone with concerns can approach these officers.”

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 6.59am on Saturday, March 25 to reports of a house fire in Tontine Park, Renton.

“Operations Control mobilised two appliances to the scene and the fire was extinguished.”
