A man who died in a crash on the A75 near Dumfries has been named.

Emergency services were called to a crash involving a BMW X5 at the Glen around 12.50pm on Friday.

Phillip Thompson, 54, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigations into the crash, which closed the road for over eight hours, are ongoing.

Sergeant Colin Ramage said: “Our thoughts remain with Phillip’s family and friends, and our enquiries into the crash are continuing.

“I would appeal to anyone who has yet to speak to us to get in touch.”
