Three young children are in hospital after a detached trailer hit a pram in Dumfries.

The baby, aged eight months, and toddlers, aged 14 months and 18 months old, were taken to the Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary before being transferred to the Royal Children’s Hospital in Glasgow.

An 18-year-old woman, who was pushing the pram, was also taken to hospital for treatment.

Police are now appealing for information as they look to establish the full circumstances of the incident that took place on Pleasance Avenue on Monday afternoon.

Officers attended the scene after being informed of the collision at 3.15pm.

The trailer is believed to have become detached from a Mitsubishi Outlander car before striking the pram, which was being pushed on the pavement.

The road is currently closed to allow for an investigation at the scene.

Sergeant David Kerr, of Police Scotland’s Road Policing Unit, said: “Our enquiries into this incident are ongoing and we would urge anyone who have witnessed it to come forward.

“We would also be keen to speak to anyone who may have dashcam footage from the area.”
