Google MapsA woman was rushed to hospital on Sunday after being hit by a car outside a supermarket in Ayr.
Emergency services were called to the collision on Castlehill Road just after 10.30am.
The pedestrian was taken to Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock where medical staff described her condition as serious but stable.
“A 40-year-old man, the driver of the car, has been arrested in connection with road traffic offences,” Police Scotland said.
“Enquiries are continuing.”
