A man has been jailed for 18 months after he attacked a homeless man with scissors.
Lee McGurran struck Sean Hughes having earlier asked him for cigarette paper.
The incident occurred on April 12 at the Rennie Mackintosh Hotel in Glasgow’s Union Street.
Prosecutor Claire Wallace told Glasgow Sheriff Court: “Mr Hughes went to open the door and was punched in the back of his head.
“McGurran then cut him with metal scissors.”
The 38-year old fled to the reception area, shouting: “He has just stabbed me.”
McGurran escaped but was later traced. The victim meantime suffered a cut above his eye.
On Tuesday, McGurran pleaded guilty to the assault to injury.
Defence lawyer Susan Gibson said: “Mr McGurran was in a bad place at the time. Alcohol and street valium had been consumed.
“He knows he was in the wrong here.”
