A man has been left injured after being assaulted in Glasgow city centre.

The broad daylight attack took place at the Blue Lagoon chip shop near to Glasgow Central Station on Gordon Street at 5.35pm on Sunday as thousands of music fans were in the city for the final day of TRNSMT.

Emergency services were called to the scene and the victim was taken to the Glasgow Royal Infirmary for treatment.

Police were also in attendance and investigating officers are now looking to establish the full circumstances in a bid to trace the person responsible.

A spokeswoman for the force said: “Around 5.35pm on Sunday, 11 July, 2022, police received a report of a man being assaulted in Gordon Street, Glasgow, near to the Blue Lagoon.

“Officers attended and the man was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary for treatment.”

“Enquiries are ongoing.”
