A suspect has appeared in court in connection with an alleged attack in Renfrewshire that left a man fighting for his life.
A 33-year-old man was taken to hospital following an incident within a house in MacDowall Street, Johnstone, on Sunday afternoon.
Police said the man, who is currently receiving treatment at Glasgow’s Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, is in a critical but stable condition.
On Tuesday, Martin Docherty appeared at Paisley Sheriff Court in connection with the incident.
The 36-year-old has been charged with assault to severe injury and danger of life.
Docherty, of Johnstone, made no plea and was remanded in custody.
He is due to return to court within the next eight days.
