A man has been arrested after a body was found within a burnt-out property in Dumfries and Galloway.
Police were called to a blaze on Lady Street in Annan around 6.55am on Tuesday, November 19 alongside the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS).
The body of a man was found inside and his family was made aware.
A 33-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the death.
Officers said enquiries as part of a joint investigation with the SFRS are at an early stage.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 6.55am on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, we were made aware of a fire at a property in Lady Street, Annan.
“Emergency services attended, and the fire was extinguished.
“The body of a man was found within and his family have been made aware.
“A 33-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the death, and enquiries are at an early stage.
“A joint investigation with the SFRS is ongoing.”
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service has been contacted for comment.
