A 23-year-old man has been arrested following an incident at a house in Stranraer.

An arrest has been made after a man died in hospital following an incident at a house in Dumfries and Galloway.

Emergency services were called to John Simpson Drive, Stranraer, at around 11.40pm on Monday after receiving reports of a man with serious injuries.

A 33-year-old was taken to Galloway Community Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

An investigation was launched and police have confirmed a 23-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers were called to a property on John Simpson Drive, Stranraer at around 11.40pm on Monday, June 6, 2022, following a report of a man with serious injuries.

“Despite the efforts of emergency services, a 33-year-old was pronounced dead at the Galloway Community Hospital a short time later.

“A 23-year-old man has been arrested in connection with this incident and enquiries are ongoing.

“If anyone has any information in relation to this incident, please contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting reference number 4183 of June 6.”
