Armed robbers threatened staff with a knife and a metal pole during a raid on a store in Airdrie.

The thieves stole a three-figure sum of money from the shop on Cairnhill Road in Airdrie at around 7.25am on Thursday.

The two men entered the property with a knife and metal pole and threatened staff before leaving on foot along Bellsdyke Road.

They are described as being of 17 to 19 years old, of slim to average build, and were dressed in all black clothing, including black hooded tops, gloves, and face masks.

Detective Sergeant Mark Nelson said: “Thankfully no one was injured as a result, but this was a frightening experience for the staff involved.

“Enquiries are ongoing to identify those responsible and we are appealing for anyone with any information which may assist to get in touch.

“I would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time or who has any information which may help us to identify the men, to contact police.”
