Armed police have been called out to a home in North Lanarkshire after reports of a gun being fired.

Specialist firearms officers attended an address in Flynn Gardens, Stepps, at around 7pm following the reported gunshot.

No one was injured in the incident and police have been speaking to local residents as part of their investigation.

A spokesman for Police Scotland said: "We can confirm that at around 7pm, officers attended an address at Flynn Gardens in Stepps following reports of a firearm being discharged.

"No one has been injured and inquiries, which are at an early stage, remain ongoing.

"Officers have been carrying out door-to-door enquiries and are asking anyone with any information to call police on 101, quoting reference 3296 of Monday, December 30."
