iStockA street in Ayrshire has been cordoned off after a woman was attacked during the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Emergency services were called to the Sorbie Road area of Ardrossan at around 4am after reports of an assault.
The nature and seriousness of any injuries are not known.
An investigation into the incident is still ongoing.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 4am on Tuesday, June 30, we received a report of a woman being assaulted in the Sorbie Road area of Ardrossan.
“Enquiries are ongoing and at an early stage.”
