Police are appealing for witnesses after a van was set on fire at High Burnside Court, Coatbridge.

Police have appealed for witnesses after a van was deliberately set on fire in North Lanarkshire.

Officers were alerted at around 12.05am on Friday to reports of a vehicle on fire in High Burnside Court, Coatbridge.

The fire was extinguished by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, whilst nobody was hurt.

The suspect made off in the direction of High Burnside Avenue before turning right towards Kirkwood Street.

He is described as white, of average build, and was wearing a black hooded top, black tracksuit bottoms and grey beanie hat and light-coloured trainers.

Detective constable Craig McLean from Coatbridge Police Office said: “The suspect runs along High Burnside Avenue towards Burnside Walk, and turns right towards Kirkwood Street, before going out of sight.

“We are keen to hear from anyone who has CCTV footage or dash-cam footage from the area to get in touch.”
