Investigators are treating a fire which took hold of a flat block on Saturday as “wilful.”
Emergency services were called to Mount Pleasant Street in Greenock at around 6.20am on November 9 following reports of a blaze within a property’s close.
Scottish Fire and Rescue Service extinguished the fire, and nobody was injured during the incident.
An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fire is still ongoing.
Detective Constable John Casey, of Greenock CID, said: “Fortunately no one was hurt as a result of this dangerous and reckless act.
“Extensive enquiries are ongoing and we are keen to trace those responsible.
“I would urge anyone who may have seen anything suspicious or who has any information that could help to get in touch.
“We’re also keen to hear anyone who may have relevant private CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage.”
