Appeal launched after shop worker threatened in attempted robbery

Police are appealing for information over an attempted robbery at a shop in West Dunbartonshire.

A man entered the premises on Main Street, threatened a member of staff and demanded money at around 3.15pm on Thursday June 13.

The staff member was not injured and the man left before taking anything. He may have gone in the direction of Overton Street.

The suspect is described as white, aged 35 to 45, around 6ft 1ins, with dark, greying hair. He was wearing a dark baseball cap, green jacket, dark trousers and dark trainers.

Detective Constable Calum Hall said: “Fortunately no one was injured but the staff member was left upset by what happened and enquiries are ongoing to find the man responsible.

“We are asking anyone who saw anything suspicious or who might have private CCTV or dashcam footage that could help with our investigation to get in touch.

“If you can help please contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 2323 of Thursday, 13 June, 2024. Or make a call anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
