Police have launched an investigation into a ‘wilful’ house fire in Ayr.
Emergency services were alerted at around 11.20pm on Saturday when a property was set on fire on James Street.
Nearby properties were evacuated while the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service extinguished the blaze.
No-one was injured as a result of the fire.
Police are treating the incident as wilful fire-raising.
Detective Sergeant Sarah Holland, of Kilmarnock CID, said: “Thankfully nobody has been injured as a result of this reckless act.
“Our enquiries have established this fire was started deliberately and are asking anyone with any information to come forward and speak to officers.
“We are also keen to hear from anyone with potential private CCTV, dashcam or video doorbell footage.
“We believe this was an isolated incident and are following a positive line of enquiry.”
