Police ScotlandPolice are appealing for witnesses after a young woman was assaulted in a lane in North Lanarkshire.
The 23-year-old was walking near Hamilton Road in Bellshill at around 1pm on Friday when a man approached her.
He attacked her on the lane that leads from Liberty Road towards Strachan Street.
Officers are asking anyone who may have been nearby at the time to get in touch.
Detective sergeant Derrick Lunan said: “Our enquiries are continuing to establish the full circumstances of what happened and I would urge anyone who may have information that will assist our investigation to come forward.
“If you can help please contact Wishaw CID on 101, quoting incident number 1721 of Friday, 18 September, or make a call anonymously to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
