Appeal after woman injured and dog killed in hit and run

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident on the B742 in Ayrshire on Sunday afternoon to come forward.

A female pedestrian has been seriously injured and her dog killed in a hit and run in Ayrshire.

Police are appealing for witnesses who may have seen the incident which happened between Mossblown and Annbank on the B742 at around 3.15pm on Saturday.

The crash saw a 21-year-old woman taken to hospital with serious injuries and resulted in her dog being killed.

Officers believe the vehicle involved, a red Vauxhall Astra VXR, with two men on-board, made off in the direction of Annbank.

They are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the crash or who saw the vehicle before or after to get in touch.

Constable Greg Norwood, from the Ayrshire road policing unit, said: “This was a traumatic experience for the woman involved and we are keen to trace the vehicle involved.

“We believe the car will have sustained significant damage to the front offside and are appealing for anyone with information to get in touch.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting incident 2403 of May 9.
