A care home in Glasgow is at risk of closure after inspectors uncovered ‘significant concerns’ during an inspection.
Homes Care Group Scotland, which operates Almond Court Care Home in Drumchapel, has been issued three improvement notices by the Care Inspectorate.
It raised concerns about the use of constraints on service users, as well as the recording of residents’ health needs, in order to protect service users from avoidable harm.
Issues with leadership were also raised, with Holmes Care Group ordered to ensure senior staff are effective when identifying risks and making timely, sustained improvements to support safe, dignified care and positive outcomes.
Safe staffing levels were also raised following the inspection, with the provider ordered to ensure staffing arrangements are safe and meet the needs of service users.
The latter two improvement notices must be carried out by September 3, while the former must be improved by August 20.
The Care Inspectorate said failure to comply could result in Almond Court Care Home having its registration cancelled, in effect closing the facility.
A spokesperson for the Care Inspectorate said: “An inspection has identified significant concerns about the quality of care experienced by residents at Almond Court Care Home in Glasgow.
“We understand this is a difficult and distressing time for residents, their families and staff at the service.
“However, our first priority is always the health and well-being of people.
“Because of our concerns, we have issued an Improvement Notice.
“This sets out the significant improvements that must be made within a specified timeframe.
“We are in contact with and monitoring the service to follow up on the required improvements.”
A report of the most recent inspection will be published in due course.
