A points failure has caused disruption to all trains coming in and out of Glasgow during the morning rush hour.
ScotRail confirmed on Thursday morning that all services arriving and departing from the station were facing disruption.
The operator confirmed this was down to a points failure and engineers said a new piston was required at the station.
Network Rail staff are currently on site to amend the issue.
Ticket acceptance on local bus services has been put in place.
A ScotRail spokesperson said: “We’re currently dealing with a points failure in the Glasgow Central area which is causing disruption to all services arriving and departing Glasgow Central.
“Engineers are on site and are investigating the fault.
A Network Rail spokesperson said: “We’re currently dealing with a points failure at Glasgow Central which is causing significant disruption to services entering/leaving the station.
“Our engineers report back that a new piston is required, and that a line blockage is needed to allow them to install this safely.”
