All staff at a 40-year-old decorating business have lost their jobs, according to liquidators.
Coatbridge-based Orr Decorators worked on a number of projects including at the University of Glasgow, the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and Kevin Hall.
The family-run business was also hired to carry out work at Edinburgh’s St James Centre, The Burrell Collection, and the Barclays campus in Glasgow’s Tradeston.
Gordon McIntyre and George Lafferty, insolvency practitioners with McLaren Insolvency, have been appointed joint provisional liquidators with Orr Decorators, citing rising costs and overheads as their reasoning for submitting a windup petition.
The business has ceased trading, and all 32 staff members have been made redundant, the liquidators said.
Commenting, joint provisional liquidator Gordon McIntyre said: “Orr Decorators was a highly regarded commercial painting and decorating contractor with a quality client base.
“The business was severely affected by trading problems and despite the best efforts of the directors, insolvency was the only option. We will now wind down the business and will be determining if there are any assets that can be marketed for sale in due course.”
Orr Decorators has been contacted for comment.
