The A85 has been closed for more than teen hours after a pedestrian was hit by a car on Monday night.

Emergency services were called to the road in Dunbeg near Oban following reports of the collision at around 10.10pm.

The section of road has been shut in both directions and drivers were still being told to avoid the area as of 8.30am on Tuesday.

The nature of the pedestrians injuries are not known. An investigation is still being carried out at the scene of the crash.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “The A85 between Connel and Dunbeg remains closed following a collision involving a pedestrian and a car.

“Enquiries are ongoing and motorists are asked to avoid the area.”

Traffic Scotland has warned road users that there is currently “no timeline” for reopening.

Their latest update read: “An earlier collision has kept the road closed in both directions.

“Road users are advised to use diversion route below.

“Updates as we get them. Currently, no timeline given for reopening.”
