A coastal road linking Skelmorlie and Largs is set to partially reopen more than two weeks after it closed due to storm damage.
The A78 suffered widespread cracking amid high winds and large waves during Storm Boelo in October.
It has remained closed in both directions since, with school buses being escorted along the road to avoid lengthy diversions for Largs Academy pupils.
Since October 26, concrete has been placed into the voids beneath the carriageway and rock armour placed along the breached sea defence.
Around 400 tonnes of the estimated 3,200 tonnes of rock armour required have been placed so far.
From Monday, November 9, the route will reopen in both directions but retain daytime closures to allow for further sea defence repairs.
Long-reach excavators will be used to place rock armour along the sea wall.
The work is being carried out on a bend, and therefore cannot be safely done while traffic is passing.
The A78 will close each day between 9.30am and 3pm, with temporary traffic lights being used to allow traffic along the southbound carriageway outwith these times.
Signed diversions via the A761, A737 and A760 will apply during the daytime closures.
Amey says the opening and closing times will be strictly enforced.
Drivers are advised to expect queues and allow extra time for journeys.
