iStockA road in Inverclyde has been closed following an early morning crash on Monday.
Traffic Scotland confirmed that the A78 between the Bankfoot Roundabout and Auchmead Road is shut in both directions at around 6.38am.
It is not known how many vehicles were involved or if there are any injuries.
A diversion has been put in place as detectives carry out their investigation.
As of 8.15am the road is still closed.
Traffic Scotland said: “The #A78 is CLOSED in both directions between the Bankfoot Roundabout – Auchmead Road due to a road traffic collision
“Alternative routes and extra travel time is advised currently.”
Police Scotland has been contacted for comment.
