Road closed in both directions after vehicle catches fire

A major road has been closed in both directions after a vehicle caught fire in South Ayrshire.

Traffic Scotland warned road users the A77 near Glenapp Church in Girvan was closed after 8pm on Tuesday due to a vehicle catching fire.

Motorists are being advised to use alternative routes with the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service attending the scene.

Amey SW Trunk Roads posted on X: “A77 both directions at Glenapp Church is closed due to a vehicle fire.

“Fire service in attendance and Amey crews en route to assist.”

Police Scotland and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service have been contacted for comment.
