A biker had to be airlifted to hospital following a two-vehicle crash in Dumfries and Galloway.

The 66-year-old was left with life threatening injuries after his Yamaha Tracer 9 motorcycle collided with a Fiat Ducato van on the A714 just south of Bargrennan on Sunday

Emergency crews were called and the motorcyclist was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital by air ambulance.

Officers are now appealing for witnesses of the crash to come forward.

PC Josh Maxwell, of the Castle Douglas Road Policing Unit said: “We’re appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident, or was in the area around that time and may have potential dashcam footage, to please come forward.

“If you believe you can assist our enquiries, please call 101, quoting incident 1488 of March 20.”
