The roof of a shopping centre in Renfrewshire has collapsed.

The Paisley Centre was evacuated after the ceiling over the entrance caved in around 3pm on Monday.

No injuries have been reported but emergency services were in attendance and the centre was closed.

A cordon was put in place at the entrance to the shopping mall as around six crews from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service examined the building.

Pictures from the scene show the devastation from the interior of the centre with parts of the roof reduced to a shell.

A spokesman for the Paisley Centre said it could not comment because it was currently an "ongoing incident" and the fire service were still on site.

Police Scotland said: "Around 3.15pm, Police Scotland were made aware of structural damage to the roof at the Paisley Centre, at the High Street entrance.

"There appear to be no injuries. Officers are in attendance to assist with closing the centre."
