Police are investigating an attempted murder after a man was shot by two masked men in a flat in Glasgow.

The 42-year-old is fighting for his life in hospital after being gunned down at a property in Wellshot Road, Shettleston, at around 8.10pm on Saturday.

The suspects then ran out of the flat and into a small dark vehicle car that was parked outside.

The injured man was taken by ambulance to Glasgow Royal Infirmary where he is currently in a critical condition.

Detective Inspector Alasdair Barlow who is in charge of this inquiry said: "We believe that this was not a random attack and that the victim was the intended target, never the less a team of detectives and specialist officers are currently in the area carrying out enquiries to establish the full circumstances of this incident.

"It is vital that we catch those responsible for this despicable act of violence and I appeal to members of the public to come forward with any information, however slight it might appear, in order that we can identify the men involved and hold them accountable for their actions."
