Glasgow Harbour flats probed over Grenfell-style cladding

Buildings within the west end complex are among 57 being investigated by Glasgow City Council.

An upmarket flat development in the west end of Glasgow is being probed over the potential use of Grenfell-style cladding.

STV News understands that buildings within the Glasgow Harbour complex, at the River Clyde near Partick, are among the 57 properties being investigated by Glasgow City Council over the possible use of AMC-style cladding.

Sources within the council say they are working with the developers and factors to try to establish the extent, if any, of the material’s use and have reiterated that investigations are on-going.

Those same sources say additional factors within the building such as use of fire breaks, sprinklers and other safety systems mean they believe there is no cause for concern among owners.

The inquiry was set up in the wake of the Grenfell disaster that caused the deaths of an estimated 80 people within the London tower block on June 14.
