A brazen cyclist prompted a safety warning after he was spotted on his bicycle on the M8 during rush hour.

Traffic Scotland notified police after the man was seen on the hatchings of the motorway shortly after 7.30am on Tuesday.

The traffic management service posted a picture on Twitter to highlight the hazard on the eastbound carriageway near the Junction 15 slip road at Townhead in Glasgow.

Drivers were urged to slow down to avoid a collision.

Police and the Trunk Road Incident Support Service (TRISS) were notified and Lane 1 was closed as a precaution.

The cyclist, who was wearing a high-visibility vest, crossed the carriageway and left the M8 before police and TRISS arrived.
